Cadets of the Nakhimov Naval Academy, who defected to Russia and stayed in Crimea, were forced to sign a written undertaking not to leave the territory of the peninsula. Their former colleagues who have moved to Odessa told about that at the live programme “Podrobnosti Nedeli” (Details Weekly), Krym.Realii informs.
“They can’t come and meet with us. When we left, they signed a written undertaking not to leave the territory of Russia and even Crimea. They can travel within Crimea at the most and then – nowhere,” one of the cadets said.
On March 21, 2014, while the Russian flag have been raised, the 4th-year cadets of the Sevastopol Nakhimov Naval Academy sang the hymn of Ukraine in chorus defiantly, saluted, turned round and went to the barracks. On April 4, 2014, the Academy was relocated to Odessa, 103 cadets and teachers left Crimea. Later, the Academy was disbanded, and the cadets continued their education for a specially created Navy department of the Odessa National Maritime Academy.
