In Crimea, a number of HIV-infected persons is increasing by 10-12% every year.
The Chief Doctor of the State Budget Enterprise “The Center on Prevention and Control of AIDS” Aleksandr Nemykin announced that, Kryminform reports.
“The increase in number of new HIV cases that we identify is about 10-12% every year, so it should be noted that it is still difficult to stabilize the spread of HIV,”Nemykin said.
He also noted that by Russian standards, Crimea is among the regions with an average level of this disease.
According to the expert of the epidemiological supervision department of the inter-regional administration of the “Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol” Natalya Berkovich, it has been recorded more than 24 thousand HIV-infected persons over 29 years of observations in Crimea. We have registered 793 persons over 10 months of 2016 that is 5.3% more than over the same period last year.
