Sevastopol is concerned about the fate of nuclear reactor

Politics, Reed

Sevastopol still hasn’t decided what to do with a nuclear research reactor IR-100 located at the Sevastopol State University, the RIA Novosti reports.

ядернаяIt is noted that the reactor is based at the University of Nuclear Energy and Industry created by Ukraine. It is not currently used. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recognizes Sevastopol nuclear assets as the property owned by Ukraine.

“There are two points of view regarding the reactor. With the IAEA opinion in mind, some people believe that it shouldn’t be used. At the same time, many other people think that there are prospects,” the rector of the Sevastopol State University Valeriy Koshkin said and added that they would need to collect some information before making a decision.
