Visa and MasterCard international payment services still don’t work in Crimea. RIA Novosti (Crimea) informs about that.
Yesterday the mass media reported that cardholders can use their cards in the occupied peninsula after launching the Russian national payment system. The correspondents decided to check this information and tried to withdraw money from ATM of the Crimean capital by using Visa card. But they couldn’t carry out this operation.
The Central bank of Russia and Crimean banks could not be reached for comment. Just the press-service of GenBank also didn’t confirm the information about launching Visa and MasterCard.
Visa and MasterCard payment systems stopped servicing the cards in Crimean because of sanctions imposed against the peninsula since December 2014.
