The Arbitration court of Crimea transferred the building of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People located in Simferopol to the state. The first “vice chairman of the Committee for Protection of Cultural Heritage” of Crimea Vyacheslav Zarubin informed about that, TASS reports.
“Last week we won the first-instance court case on the confiscation of this building. Moreover, if there is an appeal, we will win it as well because there are many glaring irregularities,” Zarubin said.
The building belongs to the Ukrainian charitable fund “Krym”. According to the official, the grounds for confiscation were design changes of the building, which is a monument of architecture, made by the owner.
“They made an attic floor that is not visible from the facade of building. When I entered there, my hair stood on end, nothing was right. There was a distortion of the monument and a lot of other things,” Zarubin explained and added that historicity of this building is based on the fact that this is “the building of industrial architecture of the second half of the 20th century, it is a former building of a plant office.”
The Arbitration court of Crimea has already imposed a fine at a rate of 4.5 million rubles on the fund “Krym”. This decision has been confirmed by the Court of Appeals as well. The head of the fund Rizu Shevkiev is also required to pay a fine at a rate of 100 thousand rubles.
