капелан в рясеOn February 14, the chaplain of the Ukrainian army Father Igor Petrenko and his friend Vadim Perepad were beaten and taken prisoner at the checkpoint of the so called DNR near the village Olenevka. The Kherson volunteers inform about that.

In particular, the volunteers inform that on Saturday Father Igor left Kherson to visit the Ukrainian military but missed the needed turning by mistake and came to the checkpoint of the rebels. A local man noticed his car, which is yellow Renault Kangoo, there and afterwards, told the Ukrainian military that the rebels beat Igor Petrenko and also fired over the heads and under the feet of the chaplain and his friend.

“At this time a local man was just stopped to check documents at the checkpoint. He told that he has seen unwittingly that there was a yellow Renault Kangoo car at the checkpoint near Olenevka and “the rebels” beat both guys hard. One of them is a blond man with a ponytail dressed in a military jacket. He also added that those, who captured the men, fired over and under their feet, he didn’t see anything else,” the activists say.

Last time the chaplain contacted his wife at 12:20 a.m., when he told her that he reached some checkpoint.

The activists didn’t notify the police about the loss of Igor Petrenko hoping to find him by their own, but there was no result. The chaplain doesn’t appear in the list of prisoners, killed people or at hospitals located on the territory of the DNR they could get.

According to the volunteers, today the local authorities don’t actively participate in searches for the missing men.
