The number of tourists that visited Sevastopol in 2014 reduced twofold compared to 2013. The chief of tourist department of the city Natalya Kolomina announced that during the session of the “government” of Sevastopol, Kryminform reports.
“According to a monitoring, about 500 thousand tourists and one and a half million one day visitors have been served in 2013. In 2014 – more than 250 thousand tourists and 1 million 640 thousand excursionists,” Kolomina explained.
According to the official, loading of the primary accommodation facilities reached almost 57% in June 2014, about 55% – in July, 50% – in August, and 30% – in September.
“Compared to 2013, the average loading of accommodation facilities reduced due to the political events in Ukraine and limitation of accessibility for Russian tourists,” Kolomina emphasized.
According to her, Russian tourist operators expect the increase of the tourist flow in Sevastopol by 20% compared to 2014 during the summer time.
To increase the tourist flow, the local “authorities” addressed to the government of Russia with a suggestion regarding arranging direct bus services with regions of the Russian Federation, cruise routes of sea-river type crafts to Sevastopol from the Volga River and the Don River, expending capacity of the ferry line from Novorossiysk to Sevastopol and so on.
As a reminder, the “Resort Ministry” of Crimea touts to the peninsula by means of cheap recreation and expects 4 million tourists this summer.
