порошенкоThe president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated that Ukraine would not resign its rights for Crimea in his appeal to the nation on the occasion of the anniversary of the tragic events on the peninsula. The official website of the president informs about that.

“Ukraine will never resign its sovereign rights for Crimea and will protect rights of people, who live there, by any and all means. There is a complete consensus regarding this matter among the Ukrainian authorities, politicians, and public society. We also have the absolute support of the states of the world and all the international organizations.” Petro Poroshenko stated.

The Ukrainian president called the “referendum” that took place in Crimea a “farce”, by means of which Russia tried to “mask its open aggression”. This is why Ukraine, as Poroshenko stressed, does not recognize this “pathetic action”, which does not correspond with norms of the international law and the Ukrainian legislation.

“Time will come and everyone, who committed or will commit a crime against the Ukrainian state and against human rights in Crimea, will come before the international and Ukrainian courts. The ones, who commit crimes against the Ukrainian state and human rights in Crimea, will certainly come before the international and Ukrainian courts,” the president promised.

Appealing to the population of Crimea, the head of the state noted that Ukraine would definitely regain the control of the peninsula and called the Crimeans to fight for it together.

“The Ukrainian state is going to regain the control of the temporary occupied territory. Today I will not say it is going to happen soon and easy. However, it is certainly going to happen, together we will rebuild new Crimea, where the rights and interests of the indigenous people of Crimea and all the population of the peninsula with no regard to their ethnical, lingual and religious origin will be ensured. This is what we fight and will fight for together!” the President of Ukraine emphasized.
