The protest action “Crimea is part of Ukraine” has been held in front of the embassy of the Russian Federation in Kiev.
The initiators of the event, which are the center of public education “Almenda” and the “Coordination Council for organizations for internally displaced persons from Crimea”, advocated for liberation of the peninsula from the occupational authorities and liberation of all the political prisoners that have been placed on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Olga Skrypnyk, the head of the center “Almenda”, noted that the occupation of Crimea is a crime that circumvented the war in the east of Ukraine. “It is that crime that later on has led to the war in the east. It is a threat for the safety of the entire world. We demand to stop violation of human rights in Crimea, we demand to stop political repressions of the Crimean Tatar people.”
The co-coordinator of the public union “Coordination Council for organizations for internally displaced persons from Crimea” Andriy Shchekun added that the events are planned from February 23 till March 15. “Today’s event begins by a photographic exhibition. Occupants that came on our territory from the Russian Federation are shown on the photos.”
The activists plan to hold the next event at Maidan Nezalezhnosti on February 28.
