It is planned that a new Sevastopol mobile operator providing communication services in roaming in Crimea will begin its operation at the end of summer. A press secretary of the Sevtelekom state company Ivanna Shvets informs about that, the Russian News service reports.
SIM cards of the new mobile phone operator can be bought in Sevastopol, but it will operate in roaming in Crimea.
“You can buy a SIM card in Sevastopol and use it, for example, in Simferopol, but it is very expensive as long as it is roaming. Communication services will be launched with the mobile Internet at once, but 3G and LTE networks will start operating later. Tariffs are also still being planned and will be available in the near future,” the company’s representative said.
As a reminder, Ukrainian mobile operators “MTS Ukraine” and “Kyivstar” stopped to operate on the peninsula as early as 2014, later the property of the Kyivstar company was nationalized. The last Ukrainian operator “Intertelecom” announced its leaving Crimea in May of 2015. Crimean “authorities” promised to create a company providing fixed and mobile communication services on the basis of the Kyivstar and Trimob nationalized property. In May 2015, it was announced that the Sevtelekom mobile phone operator would be created in Sevastopol.
