Court arrested the vessel “Kanton” under the flag of Tuvalu that was illegally present in the closed harbor of Sevastopol last July and entered to the Kherson commercial sea port for loading this March. UNIAN reports about this referring to the press-service of the General Prosecutor Office.
According to the deputy of the general prosecutor Anatoliy Matios, irrefutable evidence of a crime provided for in Part 2 of Art. 332-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine committed by the captain of the vessel, who is a citizen of Turkey, was collected during investigation.
The article provides punishment in the form of imprisonment in a term from 3 up to 5 years with confiscation of means of transport.
In this regard, a written notification of suspicion sent together with a request of inter-court assistance to the relevant authorities of the Republic of Turkey in the prescribed by the law order was filed against him.
Pechersky district court of Kyiv granted a petition of an investigator regarding the arrest of the vessel “Kanto” (tonnage of 5000 tons) and the prohibition of its use. The vessel is in the Kherson commercial sea port.
