Kurtseit Abdullaev was declared guilty under the Russian laws that he as a participant of the event didn’t comply with the event regulations when he demonstrated the Ukrainian flag with the inscription: “Crimea is Ukraine”. The court sentenced him to 20 hours of community service.

The convicted defendant didn’t admit his guilt and intends to take an appeal. “I didn’t do anything illegal. I had the right to keep the flag of this state because Shevchenko is a Ukrainian poet. I am going to take an appeal and think that Crimea won’t be quite the end of it, we will reach Moscow,” the activist said in a conversation with the media “Krym.Realii”.

As a reminder, Leonid Kuzmin, who organized the event in honor of Taras Shevchenko’s birthday, and two activists – Aleksandr Kravchenko and Veldar Shukurdzhiev – have been detained after the event and convicted of breaches of procedures of the meeting.  Later, according to the court decision, Leonid Kuzmin and Veldar Shukurdzhiev have been sentenced to 40 hours of community service.
