связьThe third generation (3G) and fourth generation (LTE) mobile communication systems were launched in the port “Krym” and Kerch. The deputy minister of communications and mass media of the Russian Federation Dmitry Alhazov informed about that, the department’s press service reports.

“Last year we saw a high communication network load in Kerch because of the large passenger flow in the ferry line. Therefore, modernization of this segment has become the top priority,” Alhazov said.

The director-general of the K-Telecom mobile operator Vladimir Zaytsev added that 36 base stations, 13 of which were installed along the Kerch-Feodosiya route, were upgraded in order to launch the 3G and LTE networks. Crimean authorities plan to connect other Crimean regions to the 3G network before the end of the year.

As a reminder, the “head” of Crimea Sergey Aksenov complained to the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev on the poor quality of the mobile communication on the peninsula.
