Hate language is used to cultivate hatred for Ukrainian language in Crimea
Occupation authorities use the hate language to create an atmosphere of hatred to all Ukrainian things in Crimea. The head of the Crimean human rights group Olha Skrypnyk said about that during the presentation of the analytical report “Crimea: Ukrainian identity is banned”.
“Today we can say that the Russian and Crimean mass media, which are controlled by the government, created the atmosphere of intolerance and even hatred to various demonstrations of the Ukrainian identity in two years. This includes the attitude to the Ukrainian activists and the Ukrainian culture and the Ukrainian language. This hate language is used not only in everyday life, but it is also used in the government’s speech. For example, Poklonska (the so called prosecutor of Crimea – editor’s note) said that they tried “not the person but the idea” during the trial of the Euromaydan activist Oleksandr Kostenko.” In other words, today in Crimea each idea that doesn’t correspond the idea of the Kremlin and says about international standards or standards of human rights or about the unity of Ukraine is tried”, Skrypnyk said.
