Communication problems in Crimea are caused by replacement of European equipment with Chinese analogue
In Crimea, the mobile operator “K-Telecom” is replacing the European equipment with the Chinese one. The “head” of Crimea Sergey Aksenov said about that on his Facebook page while commenting on the communication problems occurred on the peninsula on March 8.
The Crimean “prime-minister” reported that communication troubles were caused by a planned reconfiguration of equipment resulted in “a failure of the main switch board and drop-out of a number of base stations”.
In order to avoid such problems in the future, the mobile operator will replace the European equipment, manufacturers of which refuse to provide the warranty service, with the Chinese analogue.
“The Company LLC “K-Telecom” will buy a new switch board from the Chinese company instead of the equipment, the manufacturer of which supports the sanctions regime making it difficult to repair the failed equipment and making the warranty repairs impossible. This step will allow to exclude the occurrence of such situation in the future and improve the operator’s work”, Aksenov promised.
It will be recalled that the launch of the Crimean mobile operator “Krymtelecom” was postponed because of the EU sanctions as the European company refused to supply the necessary mobile communication equipment.
The mobile operator “K-Telecom” (the WIN-mobile brand) has been working as a local operator on the Crimean market since the summer of 2014. The rest of the Russian mobile operators are working in Crimea in terms of the regional roaming. “K-Telecom” has more than 1.1 thousand base stations on the peninsula. Since the end of 2015, the company began to provide the telephone subscribers with the fourth-generation telecommunications services (4G).
The highest living standards were recorded in Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Moscow region, Tatarstan and the Krasnodar Krai neighboring to Crimea.
