On March 30, seven students who filmed a video to support the Crimean Tatar TV channel ATR were detained in Simferopol. The public activist Aleksey Efremov informed about that, the media 15 minutes reports.
All detainees were taken to the Kievskiy area police office, where they were held until late night. On April 1, the participants of failed video message filming should appear in court, where they will be tried “for violation of the procedure for holding mass actions.” They may face a fine of 20 to 50 thousand rubles or 50 hours of community service.
According to one of the activists, the detention occurred in the evening near the building of Taurida Academy of Crimean Federal University named after V. I. Vernadsky.
“We had time to make just 10 minutes of filming. We unrolled banners, there was no demonstration, no picket, we didn’t impose anyone our position, we just wanted to make a video as we have already done many times in the town. And then the patrol and inspection service representatives and police came and surrounded us,” he said.
According to Efremov, initially it was planned to record a video message near the main building of the Crimean Federal University but it was surrounded by the police officers.
In the morning, law-enforcement officers warned Efremov about inadmissibility of “extremism, usage of Nazi, Ukrainian symbolism” and advised not to organize the shooting.
