Sevastopol beaches: pay toilets, emergency piers and prostitutes

Reed, Society

Beaches of Sevastopol occupied by Russia are provided with minimal infrastructure, debris and seaweeds are cleaned not everywhere, and children are risking their lives by jumping from emergency piers.

The correspondent of the Sevastopol news portal “Primechaniya” made this conclusion having inspected the city’s beaches.

The main problem is a lack of free toilets – the only one was found on the beach “Khrustalnuy”. As for other beaches, tourists are offered either the services on a fee-paying basis (15 rubles or 5 hryvnias) or absolutely free sea and bushes.

“A lack of free toilets is easy to explain. The sea is just close at hand,” the news portal wrote.

The second problem of almost any beach is the emergency piers and debris. In particular, children and teens are jumping from the half-ruined pier risking not only their health, but also their life on the beach “Solnechnuy”. A similar situation is on the beach “Omega” that local children like to visit.

“The beach-rescues are on duty in their towers, but they seem to be a little concerned about the fact that children and teens, as before, come on the emergency pier through a hole in the fence,” correspondents report.

The beach “Khrustalnuy” may be called a leader in debris, where, according to witnesses, “there is the dirt wherever you look”.

“Undischarged litter-boxes at 12 pm plus cigarette butts, bottles, bags, all kinds of human waste products is a brand style of a recreational zone. It is in complete harmony with its beautiful name,” the edition wrote.

According to the network users, prostitutes offer their services on the beach “Solnechnuy”.

“We came with two friends on one of the city’s beaches called “Solnechnuy” in Sevastopol today in the morning… We took beach chairs, beer, had a swim and were sitting and talking about own business. Two young girls, who were quite cute, came to us and asked the time. Then they asked whether we were tourists or not… One of my friends said that we were from Moscow. After a short getting-to-know-you talk, there was a dialogue: “Guys, don’t you want to have fun? We work for 1,500 rubles per hour, 6,000 rubles per night. What do you think?” the blogger under the nickname asaratov wrote.

The newspaper also wrote about a lack of medical aid stations on almost all the beaches and a poor service of beach-rescues. The advantages include sheds and free showers.
