In Crimea, sandy beaches are disappearing on the coast from Evpatoriya to Novofedorovka: a stretch of sand reduced from 100 to 7.5 m.
The ‘deputy head’ of the Saki city administration, city’s chief architect Galina Irhina informed about that, the Kryminform reports.
“The coastal area from Evpatoriya to Novofedorovka is 5.8 km and a third of beaches has already degraded – a stretch of sand reduced from 100 to 7.5 meters. The sand is washed away because of quarrying both on land and at the sea,” she said.
According to the first ‘deputy head’ of the Razdolnensky district administration Andrey Zakharov, about 2 km of sandy areas have already disappeared from the map.
“Sand extraction is carried out in the sea area of the Bakal sandbank, we do not see it with binoculars, but 2 km of area have already disappeared from the map of Russia. We are talking about it everywhere, but sand extraction is still carried out,” Zakharov said.
