Russia stopped funding the construction of a bridge over the Kerch strait.
Forbes informs about that.
According to the magazine, the last tranche in the amount of 65.4 billion rubles was transferred to the contractor – the “Stroygasmontazh” company in December 2015. It is impossible to make the payment of 65.4 billion rubles this year because the funding was transferred to treasury accounts.
The general director Andrey Klimenko sent a letter to the First Deputy Transport Minister Evgeniy Ditrikh and the head of the Federal Road Agency Roman Starovoyt on May 27. He wrote in this letter that the company couldn’t build the bridge in the planned period and invest in purchasing the expensive construction equipment due to the delayed payment of works performed.
“There is an extremely critical situation with constructing the facility,” Kirilenko writes adding that the company resources are “completely exhausted”.
The Federal Road Agency and the Ministry of Transport believe that the situation is under control and there can be no problems with funding.
“There can’t be any problems with funding the construction of the bridge over the Kerch strait,” the magazine quoted the representative of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
Rothenberg’s “Stroygasmontazh” was appointed as the general contractor in the construction of the Kerch bridge without any tender in January 2015. The state contract with the company for planning and construction was signed on February 17, 2015.
