Members of the public started to work on the administrative border with Crimea at the checkpoint “Chongar”. The press service of the Kherson Regional State Administration informed about that.
“Now public representatives including activists, village council representatives, Armenian and Crimean Tatar voluntary assistants, counteract bribery, corruption and abuse of official position at the checkpoint. Now all they work together with border guards, controlling them and helping citizens who cross the administrative border,” the message of the press service says.
In particular, activists stay close during the inspection of vehicles and control the process.
Public representatives recorded 15 attempts to give a bribe in the amount of 200 hryvnyas to 1200 hryvnyas only for 2 days of their work (July 18-20) at the “border”.
The head of the Azov-Black Sea regional department of the State Border Service Sergey Bidylo informed that from now on every border guard who refused to take a bribe will receive a cash bonus. The minimal bonus will be 300 hryvnyas, its amount will depend on the amount of a proposed bribe.
As a reminder, the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration Andrey Putilov complained about corruption on the administrative border with Crimea to the country’s government.
