On July 8, the road section collapsed during asphalt laying in the center of Simferopol. The city “administration’s” press service informs about that.
A gap, which is 1.5 meters deep, occurred at the Dzerzhinsky street near the FSB and MIA buildings.
The “deputy head” of the Simferopol administration Shevket Abdulaev came to inspect the place of occurrence and solve the problem.
According to the official, the gap occurred during asphalt laying in close proximity to a municipal sewage pit. Sinkhole collapse occurred due to the constant grey water drainage in upper seams of the sewage pit caused by abundant rainfalls.
“With long-term and large amount of precipitation, water in this pit came up and drainage occurred in upper seams of the pit. It is natural that the water washed the bottom layer away over the past one and a half months, when precipitation reached from 1.5 to 3 monthly norms per day, and the road surface collapsed under a road roller,” Abdulaev said.
The official promised that the gap would be removed before the night and the road traffic would be resumed.
As a reminder, it was promised to start a major repair of the road network in the capital of Crimea starting from July 15.
