Medvedev: Russia suffered 25 billion euros in damage because of sanctions over Crimea

медведевDmitry Medvedev, the Russian Prime Minister, said that Russia suffered 25 billion euros in damage because of sanctions imposed after the annexation of Crimea. He announced that speaking at the State Duma of the Russian Federation. 

“Losses from imposed restrictions on our economy are significant, we won’t hide it. According to estimates of certain foreign experts, Russia suffered 25 billion euros in damage. It can grow to several times in 2015,” Medvedev said.

At the same time he noted that there can be no other scenario and Russia took this step consciously.

“Was it possible for our country to avoid this scenario? No, it wasn’t. It was the only possible step. We all – both our country as a whole, and the government, and the parliament supported it while being aware of possible consequences. And now we collectively are responsible for minimizing economic problems, preserving social stability and prosperity of Russia,” Medvedev says.
