On July 17, the Bakhchysarai district court delivered a verdict against a local resident Mustafa Yagyaev, who is an imam of the mosque, by giving him a suspended sentence of two years of imprisonment. The press service of the Crimean Russian “prosecutor’s office” reports about that.
It is reported that the court found the man guilty under the Russian law on “incitement of hatred or hostility, and humiliating human dignity”.
“It has been established that while being at the workplace in the housing and communal services organization “Zheleznodorozhnuy”, the convicted and sentenced prisoner made a statement, which, according to the linguistic expertise, included signs of incitement of hatred or hostility, as well as humiliating human dignity, towards the company’s employees,” the press service informs.
In addition to the suspended sentence, the imam was deprived of the right to engage in activities related to transfer and dissemination of any information for a term of 2 years.
According to the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, three colleagues filed a report against Yagyaev and accused him of “statements about Crimea and Ukraine, threats towards the Russian people”.
The lawyer Emil Kurbedinov informed that Mustafa Yagyaev denied these accusations and referred to a domestic conflict.
