Office for the investigation of particularly important cases of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case against a 17-year-old Crimean boy for suspected extremism. The department’s press service informs about that.
According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the suspect published extremist posts, photos and videos on his page in the social network Vkontakte since June 2014 up to May 2015.
The representatives of the “procurator’s office” of Crimea verified legality of the criminal case initiation and found the opening of the criminal investigation under Part 1 of Art.282 of the Criminal Code of Russia (actions aimed at inciting hatred or enmity, as well as the humiliation of a person or group of persons on grounds of nationality, committed by using the Internet information and telecommunications network) legal.
The young man is liable to a fine of from one hundred thousand to three hundred thousand rubles or compulsory community service for a period of up to one hundred eighty hours, or correctional labor for a period of up to one year, or imprisonment for a period of up two years.
As a reminder, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation accused two local residents of Sevastopol of “incitement of ethnic hatred” for posts about Caucasians in the social network Vkontakte.
