In the rebellious 90s everyone did what he could. Almost all our countrymen, who are millionaires and billionaires, made their start-up budgets on the carve-up of the country. Ways of wealth acquiring were different but the principle was always the same: “When I see the goal, I don’t see obstacles.” A bright example of such raising in Crimea is a deputy of so called “State Council of Crimean Republic” from United Russia party, a former member of the Union Party and Party of Regions Mykhaylo Smolyanov a.k.a president of “Avtodel” company group. It should be noted that almost all the “Party of Regions” members in Crimea were the first to line up to vote on the pseudo referendum and had moved over to the “United Russia” party after Russian Federation annexed Crimea.
Company “Avtodel” appeared in 1993 and already at the beginning of 2000s the corporation included 8 car spare parts stores, 5 car dealerships, 4 service centers, car expert assessment department, specialized BMW service, Nissan service center, network of specialized storage depots and car security company “Shchit” that cooperates tightly with “Kedr” ltd. (something like “Oplot” in Kharkiv) – it was so called Mickey Mouse company and pluralistically a sport club “Kedr”. Mr Aksenov was an active member of “Kedr”. By the way, the company played far not the last role by ensuring security of conspirators with so called local self-defense force. Now Aksenov wants to legalize the self-defense force and even create the military Cossacks Community.
As for the owner of this “heavily earned” car business Mr. Smolyanov, he was born in Krasnodar Krai, graduated the Kuban Agricultural Institute, worked as a mechanic engineer and pluralistically a secretary of Komsomol Comity on the poultry farm “Yuzhnaya” in Simferopol, later he became the deputy CEO of the integrated plant “Crimean Rose” and CEO of the Tauric Investment Exchange.
This spring the Crimean car business was in deep depression. Ukrainian dealer centers stopped deliveries of new cars along with components to the peninsula that questioned the existence of many car dealerships and service centers in Crimea. But in fall the market warmed up unexpectedly. Dealerships of leading manufacturers started to work on the occupied territory. It seems that world car manufacturers don’t watch TV and have no idea about economical sanctions against Crimea. More likely, they simply ignore them.
Everything is clear with the dealership centers of “Lada” in Crimea, as they have been opened by “AvtoVaz” that doesn’t care about world’s sanctions for known reasons although the president of the corporate group Bo Ingre Andersson is a citizen of Switzerland and the United States and the position of those countries regarding the sanctions is known for us. What sets a glaze is the behavior of world’s leading manufacturers such as BMW, Nissan, Renault, Peugeot, Citroen and Geely that perform sales of foreign cars through the sub dealers network of “Avtodel” as exactly “Avtodel” that is the official dealer of BMW and Peugeot in Crimea, “Avtoritet-M”, which is the official dealer of NISSAN, and “Avtolider-M” that represents Peugeot and Renault. Moreover, according to the very same company, negotiations about execution of contracts regarding the direct dealership are presently conducted with Honda and Mitsubishi. It turns out there are no rules for big business.
While our Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials forbids any activity of world’s business on the temporary occupied territory, Mr. Smolyanov is preparing to increase sales for 22 – 25 thousand cars a year, whereas in the past “Avtodel” used to sell only 9 thousand of autos. Now the question of the activity of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this field remains opened.
