kanal-400x300Water from 4 new boreholes is conveyed to the streambed of the North Crimean Channel in the test mode. The minister of ecology and natural resources of Crimea Gennady Naraev informed about that on the Russia Today radio station airways. According to him, 12 boreholes have been drilled on the territory of each new well field – Novogrigorevsky, Nezhynsky and Prostornensky ones.

“Fortunately, all the estimations have been proved – there is water and its amount matches the manifested quantity and quality. With the help of the Defense Ministry we started to convey water to the North Crimean Channel in the test mode.  Nowadays there is a possibility to pump necessary quantity of water and provide Kerch, Feodosiya, Sudak, and Leninsky district, which are the most problematic regions in terms of water supply, for the holiday season,” Gennady Naraev said.

He also noted that not a single new groundwater deposit was exploited in Crimea within more than the last 20 years. “Owing to the fact that reserves were exploited and confirmed in the early 90s, we have the possibility to construct new well fields and supply water to the eastern region of the republic today,” Gennady Naraev said.
