It is possible that money for construction of the Kerch Strait bridge can be raised from the Pension Fund of Russia. People from RBC with knowledge of the situation informed about that.
According to these people, the government is already discussing the way to raise money for construction with the Private Pension Fund.
“This idea is half-baked, it is discussed with the market at the informal level,” a top manager of a large pension fund said.
A large management company’s worker familiar with the matter and an official in the government confirmed this information.
As one of the options to raise funds, infrastructure bonds on the security of the state can be issued.
“Funds are interested in this, they offered, but it is not clear how to implement that,” the official in the government said.
According to him, the problem lies in the fact that the bridge construction doesn’t imply any income from its operation, because they want to make free bridge toll.
Now about 10%, or more than 90 billion rubles, of pension funds were invested in infrastructure projects. Projects are financed through bonds, payments of which are provided by the passenger fares on the new road section.
