In Crimea conveying of 17 million cubic meters of water is planned for irrigation of 15 thousand ha of agricultural lands in 2015. The “chairman” of the State Committee on Water Management and Irrigation of Crimea Igor Vayl informed about that at the presidium session of the “State Council” of Crimea, e-Krym informs.
According to the official, greenhouse complexes and orchards of the large agricultural enterprises of the Bakhchisaray, Sovetskiy, Kirovskiy, Belogorsk and Saki districts will receive water.
The “minister” of agriculture of Crimea Vitaliy Polishchuk noted that projects of containment ponds construction have been worked out to provide orchards with water in Crimea.
In 2013 area of the irrigated lands amounted to 140 thousand ha, the volume of conveying water was 700 million cubic meters. Before the annexation of Crimea water conveying used to be performed through the North Crimean Channel form mainland Ukraine. Since May 2014 water delivery through the channel has been completely stopped. At the present, the “authorities” of Crimea try to provide the population with water by means of well-drilling and pipe laying to the dry districts of the peninsula.
