Repressions against Krym.Realii journalists started in Crimea

11111114The “prosecutor” of occupied Crimea Natalya Poklonskaya reported about initiating criminal proceedings against the Krym.Realii media’s journalist (regional department of the Ukrainian Radio Svoboda) for calling for violation of the territorial integrity of Russia. 

“The criminal case was initiated for offences under Part 2 of Article 280.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia. This journalist wrote and published the article, where he quoted the statements aimed at the violation of territorial integrity of the Russian Federation that is not allowed neither for journalists nor for somebody else,” Poklonskaya said.

The penal part of this Article of the Russian Law provides for the punishment of deprivation of liberty for 5 years.

As it has been revealed by the media, the criminal case was opened against the well-known Crimean journalist Nikolay Semena. His house was searched and then the suspected man was delivered to the investigator for conversation and released on his recognizance.     

The Russian law enforcement officers conducted searches of seven people in Crimea under criminal investigation of extremism initiated against the Krym.Realii journalist.  

“Searches are conducted at five addresses in Simferopol and at one – in Yalta as well as in Sevastopol,” the representative of Russian law enforcement officers said.

Computer facilities and equipment were seized from the suspected persons. 

The Crimean “prosecutor’s office” also is collecting materials to block the Krym.Realii media resource completely on the occupied territory.

“We collect the materials to the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation and then to the Roskomnadzor to abandon the Krym.Realii information service completely. This is the harmful service and its publications contain excuses for subversive activities, extremism and constant discredit of government’s bodies in Crimea, the incitement of ethnic hatred,” Poklonskaya said.
