In the first half of 2016, the number of traffic accidents increased by 44.6% in Crimea compared to the same period of 2015.
The information-analytical review “Road traffic accidents in the Russian Federation for the first half of 2016” gave this information, RIA Novosti reports.
It is noted that the number of road accident victims has increased by 40.3% and the mortality rate has increased by 15%.
In Sevastopol, the number of accidents increased by 14% and the number of injured persons – by 19%.
“Three main indicators of accidents increased in the Republic of Crimean as well: the number of traffic accidents – 44.6%; mortality rate in road accidents – 15% and the number of victims – by 40.3% and in Sevastopol – by 14%, 19% and 6.3% respectively,” the document says.
According to the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate’s statistics, 940 traffic accidents with injured and killed persons have been committed in total since the beginning of the year in Crimea. As a result, 164 people died and 1188 were injured. In Sevastopol – 302 road accidents, 25 dead and 371 injured people.
At the same time, there is an emerging trend towards reducing the number of accidents throughout Russia.
