Vandals destroyed the memorial to the Crimean Tatar deportation victims at the foot of Eklizi-Burun (the highest peak of the Chatyr-Dah plateau). QHA informs about that.
“There is just a torn up and broken flagstaff remained of the flag that was installed recently on Eklizi-Burun. When we walked down the path to the monument, we saw that there was just a stand of stones. Vandals threw the bash-tash itself (the monument) over the cliff, after having broken off the tamga, which is our national symbol. We found the monument at the bottom of the cliff, under a tree that stopped its fall. We put it exactly at the same place where it was found, it was impossible to take it to the top. Here is the inter-ethnic respect and friendship in Crimea,” the witnesses told to the media.
The monument to the deportees was established by the initiative group of people at their own expenses on the eve of the anniversary in 2014.
