The head of Novorossiya parliament, former deputy-regionnaire Oleg Tsarev said that there would have been no war on the east of Ukraine, if Crimea had stayed as a part of Ukraine. He also emphasized that he opposed the scenario that had been applied in Crimea.
“There was anarchy in the country. Governors of the local levels have been appointed by Yanukovich. All the chiefs of the defence and law enforcement agencies, district and region chiefs have been appointed by Yanukovich. Police was demoralized because they saw police officers were burnt down in front of their eyes on Maydan. No one wanted to protect usurpers that came into power. Here, in Crimea, there was the best military grouping because Crimea have been always considered as an unstable zone and within a few days that grouping almost fully crewed owed allegiance to the Crimean government. If that Crimean government remained loyal to Ukraine, if those military men tried to establish the order in all Ukraine, I am sure, there would be no war, that’s why I opposed that scenario,” Tsarev said in the interview for the TV channel Dozhd.
Oleg Tsarev is the ex-deputy of the Party of Regions. In 2014 he stood in presidential elections in Ukraine, however, he withdrew as a candidate. According to his words, lately he has been living in Moscow, dealing with problems of Ukrainian migrants in Russia.
