FMS of Russia: 19 thousand people renounced the Ukrainian citizenship in Crimea

паспортAccording to the “head of department” for citizenship, asylum and readmission of the Federal Migration Service of Russia in Crimea Irina Boyko, 19,000 applications to renounce the Ukrainian citizenship were filed in Crimea. Krym.Realii informs about that.

“This application (for renunciation of citizenship – editor’s note) is filed personally to the territorial body of the Federal Migration Service at a place of residence or a place of stay. The application shall have attached thereto by copies of the Russian and Ukrainian passports or any other document issued by a competent authority of a foreign country (Ukraine), confirming that a person has the Ukrainian citizenship. Currently, the Russian Federal Migration Service Department in the Republic of Crimea received about 19,000 applications,” the official of the Russian service “RosOtvet” informs.

Boyko confirmed that since the start of May “FMS bodies in Crimea” accepted applications from local residents, who don’t want to have the Ukrainian citizenship.
