The largest American online store in the world Amazon warns its Crimean customers about the necessity to delete their accounts due to the sanctions implemented by the government of the USA. Otherwise, they will be deactivated compulsorily.
“We emailed you because your account on AWS was registered in the region of Crimea. Due to the economic sanctions implemented by the government of the USA, you must remove all resources from AWS and close your AWS accounts by February 12. Otherwise, we will do it ourselves in accordance with the sanctions,” the message sent to the users with the Crimean registration says.
The American company asks users to take care about payments beforehand and inform AWS in case of the change of registration place.
As a reminder, in January 2015 a wide range of international companies informed Crimean users about the impossibility to continue cooperation due to the sanctions. Google implemented a range of significant limitations: the Google AdSense service stops working in Crimea, Google blocks the download of updates for its browser Chrome and limits access for Crimeans to the application store Google Play and the Google Analytic service. The international financial servers PayPal and Payoneer stop to provide services to the inhabitants of Crimea as well. Online learning platform EdX blocked access to its services for Crimeans. The website builder service Wix also refused to provide its platform for working purposes.
