The Kiev district court of the city of Simferopol delivered a judgment to arrest Alexander Kostenko, who is suspected of the infliction of bodily injury on an officer of the Crimean Berkut during “mass riots in Kiev” in February, 2014. Kryminform reports about that.
Kostenko is accused under the Art.115 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Part 2, paragraph “2”) – the intended bodily harm based on political, ideological, racial, national or religious hatred or hostility grounds or motivated by hatred or hostility concerning any social group. The court passed a verdict to take the defendant into custody for two months.
The investigation was initiated by the “prosecutor” of Crimea Natalya Poklonskaya for infringement on life of the Crimean Berkut Special Forces soldiers by the radical activists of the Maidan in February, 2014 in Kiev. There are already 29 Berkut officers, who have been recognized as injured persons during last year’s events in Kiev.
Alexander Kostenko has previously worked at the Kiev district police department of the city of Simferopol and later became the assistant of the deputy Eduard Leonov from the Svoboda (Freedom) party.
