In Crimea occupied by Russia, the livestock number is rapidly decreasing compared to the pre-annexation period.
According to the Krymstat, 114.9 thousand heads of cattle including 62 thousand cows were recorded on the peninsula as of October 1, 2016. At the same time, there were 168.3 thousand cattle including 70.3 thousand cows in the Autonomous Republic of Crimean as of October 1, 2013. The rate of livestock reduction for cattle is 32%, for cows – 12%.
The number of pigs decreased from 172.8 to 153 thousand heads (by 11%), sheep and goats – from 310.9 to 229 thousand heads (by 26%), poultry – from 10570 to 9235.9 thousand heads (by 13%).
