The newspaper “Ъ” gave this data citing the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

By September 1, 2016, there were branches of 14 banks working in Crimea. By December 31, 2014, 31 credit institutions were registered on the peninsula.

According to the statistics of the Central Bank, licensees of 15 banks having departments in Crimea and Sevastopol have been revoked.

According to experts, this statistics shows that banks already having financial problems and expecting to have the regulator’s loyalty in connection with the special status of Crimean were opened in occupied Crimea. However, these expectations haven’t been met, so we can’t expect the opening of new banks on the peninsula.

According to the latest information of the Deposit Insurance Agency, the total amount of insurance payments to depositors of these banks registered in Crimea and Sevastopol was 3.53 billion rubles.

As a reminder, two banks at once were closed during just one week in August in Crimea.
