As a result of the loss of piping integrity, petroleum products in quantity of 8 cubic meters were spilt at the sea in the area of Tuapse. The Fresh Newspaper reports about that.
“I see dark spots on the river… The sea is rough. I can’t say that it is fully covered with oil but there is a plenty of oil in the port and on berths, not to mention the coast line,” a man working at the location said.
The Tuapse deputy port captain Sergey Proskurin confirmed the spill but didn’t evaluate its size. The storm at sea doesn’t allow doing that.
“Chernomor Transneft pipeline leak occurred near the village Grecheskiy. Crude oil charge is frozen and the closure of gate valve was accomplished,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations said. A landslide is considered to be the possible reason of problems.
